AceShowbiz - CBS has announced the premiere dates for its new and returning shows in the coming fall season. Ditching the traditional strategy where fall shows usually debut during the same late September premiere week, this time the network will roll out its shows in several waves stretched out from mid-September to late October.
"The addition of Thursday Night Football provides the flexibility to strategically roll out our fall season in multiple waves, maximizing promotional platforms and scheduling opportunities to give our new and returning series the best possible launch," Nina Tassler, head of CBS Entertainment, explains in a statement.
New series "Madam Secretary" and "Scorpion" as well as hit shows like "The Good Wife" and "The Big Bang Theory" are among those that will air starting in September. The Emmy-winning sitcom, in particular, will launch its eighth season with a two-episode premiere on September 22 before airing in its regular Thursday slot beginning October 30.
Saved for later premiere dates are "2 Broke Girls", "Elementary", "The Millers", "Two and a Half Men" and "The McCarthys". The last three shows, along with "Big Bang", make CBS' Thursday comedy block.
