Universal reportedly wants to accommodate biopic 'Straight Outta Compton' on the 2015 date.

AceShowbiz - Universal has pushed back the release date of the untitled new Bourne movie by a year. The actioner directed by Justin Lin and starring Jeremy Renner is moved from its initial August 14, 2015 date to July 15, 2016.

Reports said that the move was prompted by the studio's attempt to make room for its N.W.A. biopic "Straight Outta Compton". The upcoming film about the rise and fall of the gangsta rap pioneers is now slated to be released on the vacant date.

The new Bourne installment is designed to continue the storyline of Aaron Cross. He was among a group of agents who took part in Operation Outcome. Medically enhanced to be smarter and physically superior, the agents were targeted for termination. The new date puts it in competition with Fox's "Ice Age 5".

"Bourne Legacy", which introduced Renner as the new protagonist Cross, grossed $276 million worldwide in 2012.
