'The end of your world is the beginning of theirs,' so reads a tagline featured in the promo video for the new horror series.

AceShowbiz - FX has finally released the first trailer for its new series "The Strain" that shares actual footage from the show. While it doesn't give away many plot details, it does hint at a viral outbreak that begins when a plane lands at John F. Kennedy International Airport with its passengers mysteriously collapsing.

"They're all dead," says a man checking on the passengers before one passenger suddenly breathes again. "I've seen this disease before. All the passengers must be destroyed," David Bradley's Professor Abraham Setrakian says, stressing how serious the situation is.

The scenes then show a man whose eyes turn blue, a moving organ preserved in a can, a glass box containing what seems to be parasites and a strange creature attacking a man. "The end of out world is the beginning of theirs," reads a tagline featured in the video.

From executive producers Guillermo del Toro, Chuck Hogan and Carlton Cuse, "The Strain" is based on del Toro and Hogan's novel trilogy of the same name. It tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Centers for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City.

He and his team are called on to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers wage war for the fate of humanity.

Described as a high-concept thriller, the new series also stars Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand and many others. It is slated to premiere Sunday, July 13 at 10 P.M. ET/PT on FX.
