The first trailer for Michael Bay-produced "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" arrives online after being premiered at the CinemaCon earlier this week. It previews some of the action scenes and humorous footage, and unveils the connection between Shredder and April O'Neil's father.

"Crime, violence and fear have run rampant. Our great state is being destroyed. People want justice restored to this world. People want heroes, Ms. O'Neil," says the Shredder. "Heroes are not born, they're created. That was what your father and I were trying to do. Create heroes."

The video additionally shows the first encounter between April and one of the Turtles. An orange-masked Michelangelo is seen trying to calm down a shocked April only to have her pass out on him. A bada** look at blue-masked Leonardo with twin swords as his choice of weapon is shown as well.

Pete Ploszek stars as Leonardo, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, and Jeremy Howard as Donatello. Meanwhile, William Fichtner plays the main baddie and Megan Fox portrays April, the human who later befriends the four Ninja Turtles.

Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Together with their human friend April, they work to save the city and unravel Shredder's diabolical plan. Directed by Jonathan Liebesman and supported by Will Arnett, the film will be released in the U.S. on August 8.
