Twenty five films are added to National Film Registry of the Library of Congress this year. Disney's classic musical "Mary Poppins" based on P.L. Travers' children's book of the same name and Quentin Tarantino's cult hit "Pulp Fiction" starring John Travolta are among 2013's selections.

Spanning the period 1919-2002, the films named to the registry to be persevered as national cinematic treasures include Hollywood classics, documentaries, silent films, independent, and experimental motion pictures. This year's selections bring the number of films in the registry to 625.

The list also includes "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?", which starred Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, "The Quiet Man" starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara, and "Forbidden Planet", one of the seminal science-fiction films of the 1950s.

Among the documentaries named to the registry are "Cicero March" which depicted the confrontation between blacks and whites on the streets of an Illinois town in 1966; and "Decasia" which was created from scraps of decades-old, decomposing film.

The silent films tapped for preservation are "Daughter of Dawn" featuring an all-Native-American cast of Comanches and Kiowas and the 1926 Cinderella story "Ella Cinders" among others.
