A representative for Diggs and Menzel confirms that the couple, who has been married for 10 years, has decided to go separate ways but will focus on their son.

Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel have decided to go separate ways after 10 years of marriage. The split was confirmed by a representative for the couple on Wednesday, December 11. "Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs have jointly decided to separate at this time. Their primary focus and concern is for their son. We ask that you respect their privacy during this time," the representative said in a statement.
Diggs and Menzel met for the first time when they were in the original Broadway production of "Rent" in 1995. They tied the knot in 2003. The Tony Awards-winning actress gave birth to the couple's son Walker in 2009.
Earlier this year, Menzel who played the mother of Lea Michele's character on "Glee" talked about marriage in an interview with PEOPLE. "We work at it. I'm not going to glamorize it or glorify it - we go through tough times like everybody else, but we love each other very much. We try not to be away from each other for more than two weeks at a time, and we try to find new ways to communicate," she admitted.
She also opened up about challenging work commitments which often took place in New York while she lived in L.A. "It's hard trying to make the decision to keep [Walker] in L.A. so he can go to school with his friends. He would be with a babysitter or have to travel to me to New York where I am rehearsing all day - but at least he's with Mommy. It's those kind of decisions that torture me all the time," she said.
