'The Walking Dead': Andrew Lincoln Teases Possible Rick and Michonne Romance
TV

'We have a romance this season,' the Rick depicter says of his character and Danai Gurira, before playing it down, 'I was just joking.'

Rick may get a new love interest in the current season 4 of "The Walking Dead". Stopping by "Katie" on Friday, October 18 with his co-stars, Andrew Lincoln hinted at a possible romance between his character and Danai Gurira's Michonne.

"We have a romance this season," so the British actor said when host Katie Couric asked Gurira about seeing the softer of her character in this season. The actress replied, "Oh yeah, of course."

Lincoln tried to retract it as he might realize that he just spilled the beans, so he said, "I was just joking," when Couric asked him to elaborate his previous statement. Steven Yeun who plays Glenn didn't help put the speculation to rest as adding, "Or not."

Lincoln previously dodged the question about the possible romance between Rick and Michonne at the red carpet premiere of the show's season 4 earlier this October. "Love is in the air," he coyly said.

Meanwhile, in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lincoln talked about how Rick and friends reacted to Michonne going out looking for the Governor to revenge him on her friend's death. "Rick has realized that Michonne is incredibly self-sufficient, but he's saddened by the fact that she still doesn't want to integrate," he said. "She's still a loner. That's a regret that Rick, maybe Daryl [Norman Reedus] and everyone else shares. That, 'Please, come back, let it go, she's gone' approach."

"The Walking Dead" airs every Sunday at 9 P.M. ET on AMC.
