"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" may drop the numbering and get a subtitle when it's released to theaters next year. People from Sony Pictures were reportedly testing three different subtitles with audience at the recent "Captain Phillips" screening taking place at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Jeff White who happened to be at the event recounts to Comic Book Movie that before the Tom Hanks starrer was screened, they were asked which titles they liked the best. Unfortunately, he only remembers two of them, "Amazing Spider-Man: the Price of Power" and "Amazing Spider-Man: With Great Power".

The subtitle seems to take inspiration from Peter Parker's mantra, "With great power comes great responsibility." It's something that Uncle Ben told him when he was going through teenage angst. After his uncle's death, Peter took the time to reflect on himself and eventually decided to make his uncle's words of wisdom his life's motto.

The second installment is set for May 2, 2014. Marc Webb returns as the director, while Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone reprise their respective roles as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. Dane DeHaan stars as Harry Osborn, Jamie Foxx as the villainous Elector, and Paul Giamatti as The Rhino.

Two more movies are already lined up as follow-ups. "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" will follow June 10, 2016 and "The Amazing Spider-Man 4" on May 4, 2018.
