"High School Musical" star Ashley Tisdale has just gotten engaged to her boyfriend, musician and Annie Automatic rocker Christopher French. The 28-year-old actress happily wore her precious engagement ring on her left hand as she strolled around the streets of New York today with her fiance, a day after their apparent romantic proposal right on the Empire State Building's VIP only 103rd floor.

"Best night of my life. We're on top of the world," Tisdale wrote on Twitter on August 8. The following day, she's beaming as she stepped out with French for a fun day of shopping which she revealed by tweeting, "Excited to run around and have a shopping day in nyc!! Woo hoo!"

The couple openly came out with their relationship last December, a romance that was kicked off by a first meeting through common friends. Prior to dating French, Tisdale has been involved with dancer Jared Murillo and music video director Scott Spear.

Tisdale, who first gained prominence in Disney Channel's "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody", became a certified star via the "High School Musical" film series where she portrayed the female antagonist Sharpay Evans. Her newfound popularity led her to sign a solo record deal with Warner Bros. Records in 2006 where she got to release two albums, "Headstrong" in 2007 and "Guilty Pleasure" in 2009.
