The Helen of 'Jack Reacher' will be Ben Affleck's on-screen wife, while the 'How I Met Your Mother' star and Tyler Perry are courted to be supporting actors.

AceShowbiz - Rosamund Pike is confirmed to be the "Gone Girl" Ben Affleck will look for. The Hollywood Reporter learns that the 34-year-old beauty, who is currently filming British comedy "What We Did on Our Holiday", has been tapped to star opposite the "Armageddon" actor in the David Fincher-directed pic.

Pike will play a wife who disappears right on the day of her fifth wedding anniversary, and all roads point to her husband, to be played by Affleck, as the killer. It is based on a 2012 bestseller of the same name written by Gillian Flynn, who will pen the screenplay alongside Fincher, whose credits include "The Social Network".

The site additionally reveals that Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry are being eyed for supporting roles, but does not specifically mention the characters.

Reese Witherspoon will produce the pic along with Bruna Papandrea and Leslie Dixon. The production is expected to begin in September.

Before Pike landed the female lead role, several top actresses have been linked to it. Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, Abbie Cornish and Olivia Wilde reportedly have been in the mix.

Pike will next be seen in Edgar Wright's "The World's End", which is set to be released on August 23 in the U.S.
