AceShowbiz - Following the critical and commercial success of "Game Change" TV movie, HBO is developing the sequel. The premium cable channel has optioned the rights to "Double Down: Game Change 2012", a book by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann which will be released in fall 2013.

The upcoming book will give an account of this year's presidential election between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney which was won by Obama in November. Penguin Press' Ann Godoff claims the book will "create the lasting story of the 2012 race for the presidency."

Details of the "Game Change" TV movie sequel are scarce, but it's likely that Jay Roach who directed the Emmy-winning drama and Danny Strong who wrote the script will return.

Debuted in March this year, "Game Change" stars Ed Harris as John McCain, and Julianne Moore as McCain's running mate Sarah Palin in the 2008 election. The TV movie posted the highest ratings for an HBO original film since 2004's "Something the Lord Made" and won a number of accolades.
