The cable channel decides not to renew the crime drama series for a third season 'after much deliberation,' leaving studio to 'find another home for the show.'

AMC has pulled the plug on "The Killing" after two seasons. "After much deliberation, we've come to the difficult decision not to renew The Killing for a third season," the network says in a statement to announce the cancellation.
It adds, "AMC is incredibly proud of the show and is fortunate to have worked with such a talented team on this project, from showrunner Veena Sud and our terrific partners at Fox Television Studios to the talented, dedicated crew and exceptional cast."
It, however, doesn't necessarily mean the end for the show since Fox Television Studios states that it will shop the drama series to other networks. "Fox Television Studios is extremely proud of The Killing, the extraordinary writing staff and crew, and what we believe is one of the best casts on television," the studio says. "We will proceed to try to find another home for the show."
Based on Danish television series "Forbrydelsen", "The Killing" premiered to 2.7 million viewers and received critical acclaims in the first season. The second season still garnered favorable reviews, but showed a decline in ratings. The season 2 finale answered the burning question of who killed Rosie Larsen.
