While Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel are still enjoying their walloping success on "The Avengers", Warner Bros. Pictures and DC are silently planning their own all-star superhero movie "Justice League". Warners has moved forward to revive the long-gestating project by tapping a new screenwriter.

According to Variety, WB has hired "Gangster Squad" scribe Will Beall to provide the script for the DC Comics superhero ensemble movie. The studio has yet to comment on the top secret recruitment, which was said to have been done even when "The Avengers" was still in the production stage.

Warners has been developing the DC superhero movie since several years ago. At first, the studio chose George Miller as the director with Kieran and Michele Mulroney penning the script. The initial plan was to tap Adam Brody as the Flash, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, and then-newcomer Armie Hammer as Batman. Back in 2008, the studio announced that the project was shut down due to budgetary issue.

As for screenwriter Will Beall, he has been teaming up with Warners in several feature films. He's currently writing the studio's "Lethal Weapon 5" as well as "Logan's Run" remake.
