"Spartacus" will not return until January 2013, but Starz has debuted the first teaser for the upcoming third season. Though it does not include any new scenes or plot details, the video does promise that the new chapter will have plenty of bloody action scenes.

At the end of the second season which is called "Spartacus: Vengenace", Liam McIntyre's Spartacus led his army to defeat Glaber. Next, the titular hero will have Marcus Crassus as his biggest enemy, with Simon Merrells being cast in the role.

"Simon had [a] huge, huge role to fill with Crassus being the main villain, the main force, and I've been so impressed by Simon," executive producer Steven S. DeKnight recently said. "When you see [Simon] in Episode 1, he will be one of the most definitive Crassus'."

Also to be featured in the third season is Julius Caesar. Todd Lasance will portray the future Roman emperor, who is marching toward the throne in the story. Meanwhile, Anna Hutchison, Jenna Lind and Gwendoline Taylor are added as series regulars to fill the void left by Lucy Lawless (Lucretia) and Viva Bianca (Ilithyia).

To prepare for the production that is set to begin in a month, the cast members have taken part in physical training, which included "the USMC combat fitness test." In this session, the actors and actresses had to do a 20-meter sprint, leopard crawls, baby crawls as well as a people-lifting.
