David Cronenberg's novel-adapted thriller "Cosmopolis" has debuted its very first clip. The snippet shows Robert Pattinson's Eric Packer trying to seduce Sarah Gadon's Elise Shifrin during a dinner at a cafeteria. The leading man tries to convince the blond lady to check in to a hotel. Suddenly, their chat gets interrupted as two men break into the eatery and yell, "A specter is haunting the world!", before throwing rats at the restaurant's visitors.

Based on a novel of the same title by Don DeLillo, "Cosmopolis" follows a day in the life of Packer, a 28-year old billionaire who traverses Manhattan in his stretch limo in order to get a haircut from his preferred barber. On that day, his driver has to navigate a presidential visit, an attack by anarchists and a rapper's funeral. Stuck in traffic, he anxiously monitors the value of the yen on the limo's computer, his fortune in the balance.

The thriller, which still hasn't got a U.S. release date, has been confirmed to take part at the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival. Joining the "Twilight Saga" actor and the "Dream House" actress in the cast ensemble are Paul Giamatti, Juliette Binoche, Mathieu Amalric, Samantha Morton, Jay Baruchel and Kevin Durand.
