Lionsgate Films has debuted a new TV spot for "The Hunger Games". Instead of centering on scenes in the sophisticated Capitol, the 60-second dramatic snippet puts its focus on the modest life in Katniss Everdeen's hometown, District 12.

With Taylor Swift's "Safe and Sound" playing as the background music, the advertisement also unveils some fresh footage, including the one that sees baker's son Peeta Mellark secretly throwing a bread to Katniss who sits in hunger in the middle of the rain. It also offers some other scenes that highlight the poverty in the mining district.

Based on Suzanne Collins' bestselling book of the same name, "Hunger Games" follows Katniss Everdeen who replaces her sister to join annual fight-to-the-death games sponsored by Panem government. Directed by Gary Ross, the highly anticipated movie is slated for a March 23 release in the U.S.

Supporting the film are Jennifer Lawrence as heroine Katniss, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, Liam Hemsworth as Katniss' best friend Gale Hawthorne, Woody Harrelson as mentor Haymitch Abernathy, Elizabeth Banks as fashionista Effie Trinket, Lenny Kravitz as designer Cinna, and Ben Wesley as gamemaker Seneca Crane.
