There's an interest from both Lavigne and the show's producers about making her the show's new mentor.

There's one more name reportedly in consideration to be the new judge of "The X Factor (US)". Avril Lavigne allegedly is in talks with the producers to fill in the empty slots left by Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.
Lavigne is no longer a stranger to both the show and fellow judges. She performed her breakthrough hit "Complicated" on the show's final in December last year, in a duet with finalist Chris Rene. She also served as a guest judge on "American Idol" when Abdul was out and Simon Cowell was still intact. With L.A. Reid, Lavigne is recorded as Arista Records' artist in 2000 .
Lavigne is thrown into the mix of rumored new judges such as Britney Spears, Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie and Janet Jackson. She reportedly told her representative to call the reality show's producers and told them how she was interested in joining.
