AceShowbiz - Avril Lavigne has filed for divorce from her musician husband Deryck Whibley. In the legal documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court last Friday, October 9, she cited the standard reason, irreconcilable differences, for the separation.

The 25-year-old punk-pop singer is not asking for spousal support and has also requested not to pay spousal support to Deryck. It is stated further in the divorce papers which have been obtained by E! News that their property rights are to be determined.

Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley, who is the lead vocalist of band Sum 41, were married on July 15, 2006. They have no children together. In the divorce papers she signed, Avril claims she and Deryck separated on September 4 and had been married for 3 years and 1 month.

News of Avril seeking to dissolve her marriage comes less than a month after she and Deryck made separate confirmations that they are splitting up. "Deryck and I are separating and moving forward on a positive note," Avril previously confirmed on her site. Later on Deryck addressed the matter on his band's MySpace, writing "Our decision to part ways is amicable and she holds a special place in my heart and forever will be a great and amazing friend."
