Get to know Chris Massoglia's Darren better through a freshly-released featurette, which also teases a closer look at Salma Hayek's Madame Truska.

AceShowbiz - A brand new featurette for "The Vampire's Assistant" has been made available for viewing pleasure. Coming out courtesy of Apple, the promotional video centers its attention to Darren, his progression into becoming a vampire and him discovering his new skills with the guidance of Larten Crepsley.

The featurette is filled with snippets of interview with some of the cast ensemble. Chris Massoglia, Josh Hutcherson, John C. Reilly and Salma Hayek are among those sharing their insights on the story. The two minutes plus video also reels in many never-before-seen footage from the fantasy film, including a look at Hayek's Madame Truska.

16-year-old Darren yearns to have something more than a normal, ordinary and predictable life. Stumbling upon a pamphlet of Cirque Du Freak one day, he and his best friend Steve satisfy their curiosity by checking out the traveling freak show. And, when the show ends, Darren gets an offer he couldn't bear to resist, becoming a vampire.

Pulled into a fantastic life of misunderstood sideshow freaks and grotesque creatures of the night, he will vanish from the safety of a boring existence and fulfill his destiny in a place drawn from nightmares. But, one thing that he doesn't know is that he unknowingly breaks a 200-year-old truce between two warring factions of vampires.

Adapted from the first three books of Darren Shan's "The Saga of Darren Shan" series, "The Vampire's Assistant" was filmed on a set constructed within New Orleans City Park. Originally known as "Cirque du Freak", the horror fantasy is directed by "In Good Company" helmer Paul Weitz. Universal Pictures will debut this movie in theaters across the U.S. October 23.
