In line with Zac Efron's interest in 'Spin', author Robert Rave admits that he wants the 'High School Musical' hunk to portray main character Taylor Green should the book is made into a movie.

AceShowbiz - Zac Efron's interest in "Spin" has got support from Robert Rave, the novel's author. Rave recently talked to MTV about his desire to see the "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" actor starring in the film version of his just-debuted book. He even admitted that Efron is his first option for the actor who will be best portraying major character Taylor Green.

"To be honest with you, as corny as it's going to sound, I thought Zac Efron would be perfect for Taylor," Rave first opened up about his choice of actor. He then explained, "When I completed the novel, I even said to the producer who's working on it, I said Zac would be at the top of my list if this ever gets made."

Asked whether he has other dream cast members to portray his novel's characters, Rave said he has no idea on who he wants to play Jennie Weinstein, but he would love to see the "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" actress, Kat Dennings, to star as Mia. "I love her. I think she's brilliant. I love her acting," he praised Dennings.

During the interview, Rave also explained the plot of his novel, detailing "I like to say this character kind of descends into darkness, insomuch as he gets really caught up in that world [of PR] and it kind of asks the question of how far would you go to keep your job?" He went on explaining, "And, you know, whereas a lot of these [other] characters, like I said, they come out unscathed, but like can you still come out unchanged? So for him, I don't want to tell you the ending, it's not a happy ending [laughs]."

The first book written by Robert Rave, "Spin" hit bookstores in U.S. on Tuesday, August 18. It tells the story of Taylor Greene, a recent college grad from the Midwest who works for one of New York City's most wretched publicists Jennie Weinstein. As he becomes Jennie's most trusted assistant and confidant, Taylor finds himself mixed up in shady dealings involving lots of sex, drugs and lies.

Zac Efron himself is currently attached to star in 2011 film "Jonny Quest". The actor, who has just received two awards from 2009 Teen Choice Awards for his role in "17 Again", previously dropped out from "Footloose" remake, claiming that he has enough of musical films. His acting can be seen next in an episode of TV series "Entourage" sixth season, in which he gets a guest starring role.
