2009 ACM Awards: Sugarland Win Top Vocal Duo

Sugarland, Julianne Hough, Jamey Johnson and Rascal Flatts are among those announced as early winners at 2009 Academy of Country Music Awards.

AceShowbiz - Sugarland have just been announced as the winner of this year's Top Vocal Duo at the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, putting aside Big & Rich, Brooks & Dunn, Joey & Rory and Montgomery Gentry. "Thank you for dreaming back every time we dream," said one of the group's members, Kristian Bush during their acceptance speech.

Another winner at the annual event taking place on April 5 was Julianne Hough. The winner of Top Female Vocalist was called to scoop another trophy for Top New Artist, a new category that she competed with the winners of Top New Male Vocalist and Top New Vocal Duo or Group, Jake Owen and Zac Brown Band. "Thanks to everybody who believed in me," she told the audience when collecting the honor.

Jamey Johnson hit the stage of MGM Grand Garden Arena as the winner for Song of the Year. Jamey said when standing in front of the mic for acceptance speech, "Thanks to my band too for going in on an off day and producing an off record."

Rascal Flatts also got an award at the ceremony for Top Vocal Group, marking their seventh time winning the category. Jay DeMarcus of the Rascal Flatt described their victory as "an amazing ride."
