Emmy Award-winning actor Chad Lowe will become a first time father after it has been reported that his girlfriend Kim Painter is pregnant with his baby. According to reports, the couple is expected to welcome their upcoming baby in early summer.

A representative for Chad confirmed the pregnancy news, saying in a statement the twosome "is overjoyed and could not be happier." Chad himself said that Kim revealed her pregnancy to him "with a big grin."

"It was pretty sweet. She has to go to work in the morning very early," Chad said in an interview with Access Hollywood's Billy Bush for his nationally syndicated radio program, "The Billy Bush Show." "She woke up with a very big smile on her face and I knew exactly what that meant."

And when it comes to the sex of their upcoming baby, Chad claimed he and Kim have not yet found out about it. "There is a negotiation going on right now with Kim and I," he stated. "I definitely want to know and she is much more interested in allowing it to be a surprise."

Chad Lowe and Kim Painter, who is a producer, began dating in 2007 following his separation from ex-wife, actress Hilary Swank, in 2006. Last year, he was quoted as saying his romance with Kim has helped him to get through "a very dark period" after his split from Hilary.
