7th season "American Idol" champion David Cook has just announced the full dates of his spring tour, which will take him to colleges around the nation. Scheduled to kick off the tour on February 13 with a performance at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, the singer promises fans a show inspired by stadium-rock gods, U2. Speaking to AOL's PopEater.com about what he looks up to from the music act, David says, "Seeing U2 at the Super Bowl a few year back. It was just very poignant. Not overdone, but definitely powerful."

The singer-songwriter continues to dish on the reason that prompted him to embark on the college tour, stating, "There's something inherently nostalgic about playing college shows. So many amazing acts used to do it, so it's nice to be able to bring that ideal back, in some small way." He adds, "Besides, touring on a bus beats what we used to do, which was cram five guys into a 7 passenger van for one show, 13 hours away."

Having an independent album, titled "Analog Heart", released in 2006, David Cook also has one eponymous major-label debut album, which has been released in the U.S. stores in November 2008. The set has spawned a top twenty single, called "Light On", which has reportedly sold approximately 892,000 copies to date.

David's full spring tour dates are available for peek at his MySpace.
