No plans for a lavish wedding, Mariah Carey insisted. The songbird has laughed off reports that she and her husband Nick Cannon are planning to stage a $4 million wedding ceremony in New York this summer.
On Monday, May 19, MSNBC reported that the newlyweds will stage a $4 million wedding ceremony in New York when they renew their vows later this summer. A source close to Mariah was quoted as saying, "It's going to be held in New York City in the next six weeks. Picture a wedding on the scale of Liza Minnelli's (to David Gest) and you'll be on the right track."
It was also reported that the extravagant event will boast a number of Hollywood notable public figures, including supermodel Naomi Campbell, whose name has already been confirmed to be on the guest list. Mariah, according to the same source, "wants over 2,000 guests and the budget will be well over $4 million and she'll have at least 14 bridesmaids."
Mariah herself, in fact, hasn't ruled out plans for the ceremony, yet insisted the reported multi-million dollar price tag is laughable. "4 milly? (million) On what? Cake? Lol (laugh out loud)," so she told MTV.co.uk.
