Charlize Theron got small role in "The Road", an adaptation movie of Cormac McCarthy's bestselling novel. According to Variety, the Academy Award-winning actress for "Monster" has signed on to play the wife of Viggo Mortensen's character in the upcoming thriller that will mostly be seen in flashback.

Allegedly, though getting a minor role, the "North Country" star still joins the project because she is a big fan of the book. It was also said that she is looking forward to once again work with producer Nick Wechsler since in 2000, she has worked with Wechsler to make a drama thriller "The Yards" starring also Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix.

"The Road" tells the story about a father who embarks on a nightmarish road trip after a nuclear explosion in an attempt to bring his son to safety while avoiding cannibals. The John Hillcoat directed-film is rumored to be starred by Mortensen, while Guy Pearce is reported to be in talks with the studio. The principal photography will be taken sometime next month.
