Music

Mariah Carey will drop her album in February 2008, the same quarter Madonna, Janet Jackson, and Ashanti will release theirs.

Mariah Carey will not release her album this year. The diva has decided to push back the release date of the tentatively titled 'Sweet Soul Odyssey' from December 4 to February 2008, according to Foxnews.com.

With the new time frame, Mariah is expected to go in chart battle with other big artists such as Madonna, Ashanti and Janet Jackson.

Madonna's publicist Liz Rosenberg has just told Hollywood Insider that her album could be released in March 2008 or earlier, while Janet's producer Jermaine Dupri predicted that her record will come in the first quarter of 2008.

Ashanti announced herself yesterday (October 18) that 'The Declaration' will be released at roughly the same time.

Female rapper Da Brat revealed to Los Angeles' Power 106 radio station that she will contribute something to Mariah's album. Other reported collaborators include The-Dream and Ne-Yo.
