Fresh from the weekend MTV brawl, the Las Vegas police have cited Kid Rock for misdemeanor battery as a result of which he could face up to six months in jail.

According to officer Bill Cassell, Rock received the citation after police reported to the Palms Hotel and Casino shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday September 9th and interviewed people at the scene. He wasn't taken into custody though.

Rock and Tommy Lee, both are the former husbands of busty blonde Pamela Anderson, involved in a fight during the MTV Video Music Awards held in Las Vegas, Nevada in the Pearl Theater at the Palms Hotel and Casino. MTV VJ Sway, who was on the scene, said that he saw Rock walked up to Lee who was sitting next to P. Diddy and "deck him."

Another source in the know, rap producer Rich Nice, said it was Lee who first initiated the fight. "It looked like Tommy Lee initiated it because Kid Rock was ignoring him," the man was quoted as saying. "And Tommy Lee kind of antagonized him. And then when Tommy Lee ..... stands up is when Kid hit him the first time with a backhand. And then Tommy Lee looked like he was trying to get at him to aggressively retaliate and then Kid Rock hits Tommy Lee again bong. And then security grabs Tommy Lee in a headlock and pulls him off."

Lee soon thereafter was dragged out of the show, while Rock was let to stay for the rest of the award event.
