Giving more buzz to the award season, Washington, DC Area Film Critics Association has picked up a number of notable names and titles to be deemed the winners of its 2006 WAFCA Awards.

Like the New York Film Critics Circle, the group cast its favor on 9/11-drama "United 93" for Best Film title while taking the same picks as the New York Film Critics Online in selecting "An Inconvenient Truth", "Pan's Labyrinth", and "Happy Feet" as Best Documentary, Best Foreign Film, and Best Animated Feature, respectively.

Furthermore, it also gave the Best Actor award to Forest Whitaker for his role in "The Last King of Scotland" and Best Actress prize to Helen Mirren of "The Queen" along with handing two honors of Best Breakthrough Performance and Best Supporting Actress to "Dreamgirls" star Jennifer Hudson.

Best Ensemble category was snatched by "Little Miss Sunshine" which also won that of Best Screenplay, Original while Best Screenplay, Adapted prize went to "Thank You For Smoking" with Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette" surprisingly scoring one winning in Best Art Direction category.

Other notable names won included Djimon Hounsou who took home Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in "Blood Diamond" and Martin Scorsese who got labeled Best Director, thanks to his amazing work in "The Departed."
