Early Winners at the 2006 Annual Billboard Awards

R&B diva Mary J. Blige and country star Kenny Chesney nabbed early awards at the 2006 annual Billboard Awards, Dec 4th.

AceShowbiz - Best friends Paris Hilton and Britney Spears were both no show at the 2006 annual Billboard Awards, held Monday night Dec 4th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, but the show went on somehow. R&B diva Mary J. Blige and country star Kenny Chesney were the early winners at the awards show.

Blige, who was nominated for five major-category awards, nabbed the R&B/Hip-Hop Artist of the Year award, with Chesney won the Male Country Artist of the Year honor.

Artists performing during the event among others were Janet Jackson who opened the show, singing her 1980s classic, "The Pleasure Principle," and Stacy Ferguson who sang her hit single "Fergalicious".

While some other winners have yet been revealed, it has been confirmed that Tony Bennett will be honored with the Billboard Century Award, a lifetime achievement award. Stay tuned for more award winners.
