AceShowbiz - Boyband Backstreet Boy member Nick Carter was pleaded not guilty over two drunken driving-related charges Wednesday April 13, 2005, in an Orange County, California. Spokesman for the Orange County District Attorney's Office explained the plea was actually phoned in by Nick's lawyer.
Since the charges, one for driving under the influence and the other for driving with a blood-alcohol level over 0.08, were misdemeanors, the boy was not required to show for the arraignment. Commenting the final decision, Nick publicist Juliette Harris said the star "deeply regrets the incident. He was actually on doctor-prescribed medication and was unaware of its interaction possibilities."
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for May 2, 2005, and Nick is not expected to show.
