AceShowbiz - The Bear is set to conclude its compelling story with the upcoming fifth season on FX, sources have confirmed to Deadline. The popular comedy-drama, starring Jeremy Allen White as Carmy Berzatto, will wrap up after Season 5, marking the end of its critically acclaimed run.
This announcement aligns with the narrative direction revealed at the end of Season 4, where Carmy informs Syd, portrayed by Ayo Edebiri, and Richie, played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach, that he plans to leave the restaurant and transfer his ownership stake. This pivotal moment hinted at the series’ natural conclusion.
FX has a history of allowing show creators to decide the timing and announcement of their final seasons. However, the news was subtly confirmed by Jamie Lee Curtis, who plays Donna Berzatto, Carmy’s and Natalie’s mother. Curtis shared a photo on Instagram with Abby Elliott, who portrays Natalie "Sugar" Berzatto, expressing gratitude for concluding the series alongside a talented cast and crew. She wrote about finishing the story of the family that audiences have grown to love.
Originally, creator Christopher Storer intended for the series to end after Season 4, as noted by White. Despite this, the show was renewed for a fifth season in July, which is expected to premiere later this year, giving fans one last chapter to enjoy.
The ensemble cast also includes Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Matty Matheson, with recurring roles from Oliver Platt and Molly Gordon. The Bear has been a major awards contender since its debut in 2022, securing the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2023. Key players such as White, Moss-Bachrach, Edebiri, and Storer have each received individual accolades. Additionally, Colón-Zayas won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2024, and Curtis earned Outstanding Guest Actress honors.
Produced by FX Productions, the show’s executive producers include Storer, Josh Senior, Joanna Calo, Cooper Wehde, Tyson Bidner, Matheson, Hiro Murai, and Rene Gube. As The Bear approaches its final season, viewers can anticipate a strong and fitting conclusion to this extraordinary family drama.
