The film is based on the novel of the same name by Ted Conover. Forsaken is a 2015 American Western film directed by Jon Cassar from a screenplay by Brad Mirman, based on the 1988 novel of the same name by Ted Conover. Set in the Wyoming Territory in 1872, the film stars Kiefer Sutherland as John Henry Clayton, a former outlaw who returns home to claim his inheritance but finds himself facing off against his vengeful brother (played by Donald Sutherland) and the ruthless town boss (played by Brian Cox). The film was released in the United States on August 14, 2015, by Lionsgate Premiere.
