In a statement confirming the tragedy, the former 'Saturday Night Live' cast member and his wife Paula remember their 'talented' eldest son who died at 32 years old.

AceShowbiz - Dana Carvey and his family are currently mourning the loss of his son and could use some support from anyone more than anything. The comedian, however, has seemingly come across some negative headlines about his late son Dex Carvey and is not happy about it.

On Thursday, November 16, the father of two took to his Instagram page to slam the media. Posting a picture of his eldest son smiling, Dana wrote in the caption, "F**k the tabloids. This is my boy," without detailing what irritated him.

In a previous post, Dana issued a statement confirming his son's sudden passing. Calling it "a terrible tragedy," he and his wife Paula Zwagerman apparently believe that their son died of an accidental overdose, though no official cause of death has been announced by authorities.

"Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 32 years old," read the statement. "Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things-music, art, film making, comedy-and pursued all of them passionately."

"It's not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life," the grieving parents continued. "And when you were with him, you loved life too. He made everything fun. But most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee."

They went on remembering the comedian, "Dex was a beautiful person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever. To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers."

In another post, Dana remembered a happier time with his son Dex where they were working together. "Dex and me working together. What a joy," he shared. Dex opened for his father's 2016's Netflix special "Straight White Male".

According to reports, Dex died on Wednesday night, November 15 after first responders rushed over to his home where his girlfriend had called from in Los Angeles around 10 P.M. PT. He had apparently locked himself in the bathroom and was unresponsive when authorities arrived.

Paramedics tried to revive him, but to no avail. He was pronounced dead on the scene. An autopsy has been done, but Dex's cause of death has not been determined, pending toxicology tests.

Dana and Paula also share 30-year-old son Thomas, another aspiring comedian.
