The first official poster for "Lizzie Borden Took an Ax" has made its way out online via Entertainment Weekly , giving a look at Christina Ricci as the title character. Donning a white dress, she holds an ax with visible blood stain on it. "It's time to bury the hatchet," so the tagline reads.

Based on true event of the 1892 axe murders of Andrew Jackson Borden and his second wife Abby Durfee Gray Borden, the telepic is set in Fall River, Massachusetts. On a scorching, hot summer day, Lizzie returns home and sees the bloody scene of her parents violently murdered.

Police quickly question multiple suspects in town, but evidence keeps pointing back to the Borden's youngest daughter Lizzie, the seemingly wholesome Sunday school teacher, as the prime suspect.

Lizzie is put on trial for the murders, both in the courtroom and in the press, sparking a widespread debate about her culpability. As the case rages on, the courtroom proceedings fuel an enormous amount of sensationalized stories and headlines in newspapers throughout the country, forever leaving Lizzie Borden's name in infamy.

Billy Campbell stars as Lizzie's lawyer Andrew Jennings and Clea DuVall is cast as her sister Emma. Nick Gomez directs the TV movie with the script written by Stephen Kay. It will premiere January 25 at 8 P.M. ET on Lifetime.

This is hollywood,so I imagine liberties have been taken, possibly quite a few liberties. It should be entertaining in the least.

Simply put, this is a Lifetime film so anyone who chooses to watch it should know what they're getting into.

Apart from the terrible casting, this poster doesn't make sense. It shows Lizzie about to head upstairs with a bloody ax. The truth is that the mother was killed an upstairs bedroom. Then the father was killed on the first floor in the living room.
