Now that she's made it into the prestigious Y.E.T.I. program, Betty soon discovers that to move up in the publishing business, you have to make some painful sacrifices. But let's hope she doesn't fall off off the ladder in the process.

Hilda is throwing a bash for the opening of Hilda's Beautilities Plus boutique. Betty, who's skipping her Y.E.T.I. orientation mixer to help out, suggests handing out gift bags at the event, and tells Hilda she can get samples from Mode to fill them with.

But Hilda's not the only one throwing a party, we find out-Wilhelmina is having her own shindig, and invites Connor. Her face sours, naturally, when he mentions that he'll bringing Molly. This should be interesting.

Daniel shows Betty a recently unearthed Halston original sketch from the Fireworks Collection. He tells her Keira Knightley will do the cover of Mode if she can wear it, and so Betty is tasked with picking the dress up from the collector's loft. Why are we already sensing imminent disaster?

Meanwhile, Wilhelmina pulls Daniel aside to show him the security camera footage from when he almost kissed Molly in The Closet. Surprisingly, she gives him the DVD, saying it's the only copy, and encourages him to take the risk. Of course, she fails to mention that she's got her own designs on Connor.

It turns out Betty's journalistic idol Jody Papadakis (Bernadette Peters) is running the Y.E.T.I. program. But on her first day of class, Jody singles Betty out for skipping the mixer. Busted! She then announces that by the same time next week, each of the students must make 40 business contacts.

Betty enlists Marc to help her be a superficial schmoozer (good choice!). He drags her along to Swill, and says, "Everyone you need to meet will be there." There's just one snag-this means Betty will have to miss helping Hilda with the gift bags. Nevertheless, at Swill, Marc offers Betty valuable advice: Give one memorable fact to each person she meets, no matter how outrageous or untruthful, then get their card and get out. And, it works-she makes 39 contacts!

At the bar, she meets a woman named Terri who we find out works at Elle! They seem to hit it off as pals, until Betty steps into the restroom, and Terri grabs her phone off the table. Uh, oh!

Daniel asks Betty to personally pick up the Fireworks dress, which will make her late for Hilda's party. Can you tell where this is going? Cut to a horrified Betty discovering that Terri impersonated her and intercepted the dress from the collector. Daniel and Wilhelmina have a video conference call with the editors of Elle, who refuse to return the dress. This means no Keira Knightley, and the loss of 30 advertising pages!

The night of Hilda's party, Betty remembers that another of her contacts she met at Swill is catering an Elle event. She enlists Marc, who used to intern at the rival mag, to help sneak in and get the dress back. But as she's about to dash off to meet him, Hilda and Ignacio come down on her for bailling. "Right now, Hilda needs you!" her father says. It's a tough call, but Betty chooses to save her career.

Elsewhere, at Wilhelmina's, the Mode vixen steals Connor away from Molly the minute they walk in. Daniel takes that as his cue, and pulls Molly aside. He says he hasn't been able to get her out of his mind since they met and asks her if she can honestly say she doesn't have feelings for him. Gees, nothing like putting the poor engaged girl on the spot, Daniel!

Meanwhile, Wilhelmina admits to Connor that she finds it hard to be around him. But just then, Molly rushes up and says she's not feeling well, and asks Connor to take her home. Buzzkill!

After rescuing the dress (still attached to a mannequin, might we add) from Elle, Betty and Marc bring it to Wilhelmina's party. Impressed, Wili invites the two of them in-making it the first time and assistant has ever been invited to one of her chic soirees. Once inside, Betty spots Jody Papadakis walking toward her just as Hilda tries calling. Betty switches the cell to silent. Man, that's cold.

Later, Daniel goes home to find Molly waiting for him on the steps. "You were right," she admits. "I can't say I don't have feelings for you. I broke up with Connor." Cut to Connor showing up on Wilhelmina's doorstep. But why do we get the impression these four aren't gonna all live happily ever after?

In the end, Betty arrives back at the Suarez household, only to find out Ignacio is in the hospital after suffering a heart attack.
