Daniel emerges as the main suspect in Christina's accident when he asks Betty to lie about his whereabouts on the night of the launch party. He is arrested and charged with attempted murder, based on prints of his one-of-a-kind sneakers that were found at the scene.
Wilhelmina makes the murder attempt all about her and stages photo ops at Christina's bedside. Police assume that the killer was out to get back at her, but Christina tells Betty she suspects Stuart. Claire also had motive -- and was drinking that night -- as did Alexis, who also stayed late.
Stuart, who's only back on drugs because his treatment failed, turns out to be innocent. As does Daniel, who reveals he took the security tapes to hide his hookup with the State Department liaison in charge of DJ's case. "I've never been happier to find out about one of your sleazy affairs!" Betty exclaims.
Betty realizes who could have fit into Daniel's size 11 sneakers: Alexis, who confesses to pushing Christina to get back at Wilhelmina. Alexis turns herself in, but as she's being led away by the police, she whispers an earth-shattering secret to Claire, "Daniel isn't Daniel Jr.'s father. I am."
"I'm not going to let you turn my apartment into a sex den!" Betty protests when Hilda tells her she needs a place to talk things over with Tony. Betty agrees, but then Ignacio unexpectedly shows up and sees more of Tony than he ever planned on, including his wedding ring!
