Stanley and Erin arrive at the office to discover that Dwight is repairing the elevators, so they can only take the stairs for the day. Stanley furiously struggles to make his way up the stairs while Erin coaches him through the once-in-a-century elevator outing, which Dwight has dubbed "stairmageddon."

Upstairs, the rest of the group reads online articles about the upcoming documentary. They're less than impressed with their character descriptions, but a rave review of Andy's music skills inspires him to chase the Hollywood dream. Angela and Oscar become increasingly concerned that the documentary will out the Senator.

Meanwhile, Jim and Pam's relationship is becoming increasingly strained. Pam reveals to Nellie that she and Jim are going to marriage counseling to work out their issues. Meanwhile, Jim confides in Toby about the impending counseling session, effectively getting a counseling session about his counseling session. Angela meets with the Senator, who encourages her to attend a press conference with him to finally clear the air.

Dwight tries to get Stanley to join him on a sales visit, but Stanley refuses to leave the office until the elevator is fixed. Dwight decides to force Stanley to join him by dosing him with animal tranquilizers in the break room. Unfortunately, now Dwight has to figure out how to get an unconscious Stanley down the stairs. Clark and Dwight wrap Stanley in bubble wrap and slide him down the steps on cardboard ramps.

Later, the group gathers around Erin's computer to watch the Senator's press conference. The Senator unexpectedly announces that he's gay and that Angela is what made him realize his true self. He also reveals his relationship with Oscar, much to the surprise of everyone except for Kevin. Then, the Senator announces that he's in love with his Chief of Staff, who is also gay. Angela is infuriated.

Clark and Dwight finally get the snoozing Stanley downstairs and heave him into Dwight's car. Stanley finally comes to, but he's incredibly drowsy. Dwight, Clark and Stanley meet with the client. Stanley is clearly out of his head, but his infatuation with the client's grandchild wins her over. Somehow, the trio manages to pull off a successful client meeting, despite Stanley being loopy on bull tranquilizers.

Andy heads across town to meet with a small-time talent agent, Carla Fern. After a series of bizarre questions, Carla gives Andy some thrilling news: she wants to sign him to her agency. Meanwhile, Jim and Pam continue to seek counseling from Toby and Nellie respectively. By the time Dwight, Clark and Stanley return to the office, Stanley is coherent again. However, the prospect of climbing the stairs again drives Stanley to stick himself with another dose of animal tranquilizer so that Dwight and Clark must drag him upstairs.
