Jan came by to ask Michael which health care plan he decided to choose. When he said "the gold plan," which was the most expensive, she informed him that they were changing plans to save money and he had to pick a provider and choose the cheapest plan.

To get the pressure off his shoulders, Michael asked Jim to pick the plan and explain it to his co-workers. Jim declined, and suggested that Dwight do it instead.

With glee, Dwight slashed benefits to the bone: no dental, no vision, and a $1,200 deductible. The entire staff freaked out over this, but Michael holed himself up in his office so he wouldn't have to confront them.

The staff descended on Michael when he finally left his office to use the bathroom. When he heard that Dwight had cut their benefits, he sent Dwight back to the drawing board. He also promised his team a "big surprise" at the end of the day. Of course, he just made that up on the spot.

Dwight had everyone fill out a form explaining what diseases they needed covered. Jim locked Dwight inside the conference room, prompting him to call Jan. He asked her for permission to fire Jim. She was shocked when Dwight told her Michael had put him in charge of picking the new health care plan.

Michael returned to the office with ice cream sandwiches. When Stanley asked if that was their big surprise, Michael said he had something else in store (another lie). At the end of the day, with still no revised health care plan, Angela asked Michael what the surprise was. With a drum roll effect to buy himself some time, Michael stammered, "Well.. ah... you see" He had nothing.
