Earl was let down when his credit card application got denied. He felt like a child and wanted to take more responsibility for his life. Catalina suggested that if Earl felt he screwed himself out of being an adult, he should put himself on the list.

Earl decided to start becoming adult by getting his GED from the local high school. Earl was having trouble with the entire test. He decided to go back to his old high school teachers in hopes that they would help them.

Earl was saddened to find all of his old teachers had lost their enthusiasm for their jobs. It turned out that after Earl left school, the students got nastier and nastier to their teachers and the teachers were losing all hope. Earl offered to get through to the snot-nosed kids, but knew it was going to be a challenge.

Earl's students refused to pay attention to him in class, so he took them to his motel to show them what happens to guys who goof off in school. He wanted to get across to the students that school was important. They all came to the conclusion that Earl was a loser.

Earl was touched when one of his students, Summer, came to him for advice on how to avoid being a loser. In exchange, Summer helped Earl with his studying for the GED exam. It turned out that Summer set a trap for Earl. While he was getting tutored, the rest of the students flipped his car.

Earl was so fed up with the students that he gathered the rest of teachers up to get revenge. The teachers started pulling pranks. But, their pranks backfired, when one of the teachers accidentally blew up a student's car. Turns out that the teachers scared the students straight. The teachers were so relieved they invited Randy and Earl to attend classes, too. After attending all the necessary classes, Earl finally passed his GED exam.
