Main Cast

An engineer, Captain Fitz, is leading Colonel Marks into a dilapidated building off campus. They discuss the possibility of turning the place into a medical clinic. The layout would be perfect. Marks notices a suspicious-looking wire running along the ground. This is no harmless electrical line. It's a rigged explosive.

Colonel Marks tries to warn his team outside via walkie-talkie that the building is booby-trapped, but reception is poor. The person on the other end of the conversation says he's coming inside. Before the Colonel can protest. An explosion rocks the area.

When the dust finally clears, the Colonel has a concussion and some intense ringing in his ears. It's an issue, but ultimately not super serious. Fitz, on the other hand, gets the short end of the stick (make that the long end), as he has a pole sticking straight through his midsection.

Back at the hospital, everyone is having a good time except for our favorite Miss Goody Two Shoes, Rebecca. She's busy doing inventory for medical supplies while the rest of the team plays foosball. When Simon bumps into Rebecca, he tries to give an excuse for standing her up the other night. She makes it clear that she isn't interested in his problems and she's definitely not interested in him. Gotta love her spunk.

Bobby is in Grace's office trying to prove that he doesn't have anger issues. She's not buying it, but she lets him go until he's ready to address his problems. Since Bobby feels useless because of an injured arm, he decides to watch after Will's little buddy. Yup, the kid is back! Unfortunately, Bobby scares him off after he angrily grabs him by the arm. That's not the nice trauma team leader we've come to know and love. Good thing Bobby comes to the same revelation, as he decides to pay Grace another visit.

Every hospital in the area is booked with traumas, which means that it's all hands on deck to fix Fitz when he arrives at the hospital. Rebecca is having doubts that the Colonel is fit to make decisions in his injured state, so she takes over for him. She's forced to make some tough calls, like putting Fitz's surgery off until they can tend to an injured family. The Colonel is furious that his medical team won't prioritize Fitz's surgery, but Rebecca knows it's the only way to save the others.

Sadly, the Colonel is forced to tell Fitz that they won't be able to save his life because they are taking care of others. Despite the bad news, Fitz takes it like a champ. He is grateful that losing his life means that a mother and her children will survive. When Rebecca learns that Fitz died before she could get to him, she's heartbroken. Eventually the Colonel comes around to praise Rebecca for sticking to the rules. They must always use their resources to save the most lives possible, even if it doesn't always seem fair.

Rebecca ends the night in Simon's bunk. This leaves us and Rebecca wondering how many other women have spent the night here. Maybe some things are better left unknown.
