There's been a one hundred percent "save rate" over the past two weeks for patients coming into the Role 3. This record gets put to the test when a civilian bus crashes into a military convoy. Bobby diagnoses a woman as having severe burns over 45 percent of her body. Will believes the percentage is slightly higher, but the trauma team leader makes the call to treat the patient aggressively.

Will believes the type of care this woman will need if she survives will be an incredible strain on his nursing unit. He also feels it's possible that Bobby may have opted to keep her alive so that the "save rate" record remains intact. The entire situation causes a serious rift between the doctors and nurses.

A young girl was also seriously injured in the bus crash. Simon works to save her while mocking the nurses for getting emotional just because the patient is a child. The team learns that the little girl is the daughter of Bobby's burn patient. Mother and daughter now lay just a few feet apart from each other fighting for their lives.

Grace treats a private who is having difficulty controlling the urge to keep pleasuring himself. If he doesn't stop, his commanding officer will have no choice but to send him home. To take the private's mind off his hands-on approach to stress management, Grace has him sit with the unconscious burn patient.

Bobby also keeps vigil with his patient until Suzy lures him away to have sex in the shower. These two had clashed about Bobby's medical call earlier. Guess they found a way to separate professional and personal feelings. Speaking of feelings, Simon shows that he's not the uncaring cad he makes himself out to be. Rebecca overhears him talking to the unconscious little girl telling her that she can survive this thing.

An unidentified little boy forms an attachment to Will after being treated for an arm wound. The kid doesn't speak English. In fact, no one can determine what language he may understand. For now, the boy is content following Will wherever he goes. Fortunately, the kid isn't present when Will vehemently expresses his opinion to the colonel about the care being provided for the burn victim. It's not a pleasant conversation.

When the burn victim begins crashing, Bobby uses extreme measures to revive her. She survives the procedure and Grace's patient watches over her throughout the night. The next morning, Simon barrels into post-op with a big smile on his face when he sees the little girl is awake. She's going to be okay, but her mom is crashing again. This time, despite Bobby's best efforts, there's no reviving her.

Grace's idea of having her patient spend time with the burn victim seems to have worked. The private got four solid hours of sleep for the first time in a long time. As for the unidentified little boy, Colonel Marks reminds Will that the base is no place for a child. Unfortunately, they still can't locate his family.

Colonel Marks has a chat with both Bobby and Rebecca about all that's happened lately. He says there's been speculation that Bobby's calculations were based on his pursuance of the "save rate" record. The colonel doesn't believe that's true for a second. Bobby is too good of a doctor.

As for Rebecca, Colonel Marks sees the bond she's developing with Bobby. She backed his play all the way with the burn victim. But the colonel makes it clear that she must also include the nurses in all future cases to create a cohesive group. They are a team and that's the only way they are going to survive.
