Charlotte Payne has signed up with Soul Mates Specialists Inc. and her Soul Mate Specialist Andrew has some questions for her. One hundred questions, to be exact. Andrew tells Charlotte she's about to take the most comprehensive personality test in the dating industry. Once Charlotte answers 100 scientific questions, Andrew will find her soul mate. Since her parents have been married multiple times to different people, Charlotte isn't really sure if she believes in soul mates, but she wants to.

Question number one: what brought you here? Charlotte tells Andrew it was a bad date at a Yankee game, when Rick, her boyfriend of three months proposed to her on the jumbotron. Charlotte says no to Rick but hopes they can still be friends. Meanwhile Charlotte's friends Leslie, Jill, Mike and Wayne wish they didn't carpool with Rick on the way to the game, because it's going to be an awkward ride home. On top of that, a painted Yankee fan hits on Leslie. Jill slips him Leslie's number before escaping the angry crowd.

After Charlotte and friends get back to her place, they talk about Rick's proposal. Charlotte doesn't understand why Rick would propose, since they've only been dating for three months. Mike thinks it's because of her English accent and Wayne tells her it's because she's wicked in the sack. Charlotte rejects both of these ideas.

Leslie gets a text from the painted guy from the Yankee game, and Jill tells her it's time to move on. Leslie's ex-boyfriend is married now, and she needs to start dating again. Mike thinks the painted guy had a horrible pick-up line. Wayne shows Charlotte that her proposal rejection is all over the internet, and everyone's calling her "The Yankee Bitch." Wayne tells Charlotte not to get in touch with Rick, but there's one problem: she still has the ring.

Charlotte goes to Rick's office with Jill, where everyone recognizes her from the video. Charlotte apologizes to Rick for everything again and gives him back the ring box with no ring in it. The ring belonged to Rick's grandmother and has been in his family for 70 years. Jill helps Charlotte retrace her steps to find the ring. Last night, Wayne put it on and pretended to be Gollum and then Mike did a magic trick with it. Charlotte promises Rick she'll find his grandmother's ring.

Charlotte returns to her apartment, but has no luck finding the ring. Mike and Wayne have a competition for who has the best pick-up line. Mike goes first, asking Jill and Charlotte, "Do you have sunburn or are you always this hot?" Neither of the girls like it. Instead of writing his own pick-up line, Wayne just repeats Mike's, and the girls swoon. Wayne tells Mike it doesn't matter what you say, it's all in how you say it.

Leslie gets back from her date with the painted guy. She had no idea what he looked like without his body paint, and it turns out he's an albino. Leslie says she didn't know what to do at first, so she told the albino she was engaged. Leslie had Rick's ring the whole time, having put it on for the mock wedding she and Mike performed last night while Charlotte was passed out. Not only is Charlotte relieved to get the ring back, but Leslie's going out with the albino again.

At the bar, Mike and Wayne continue their pick-up line contest. Mike puts Wayne up to the ultimate challenge: he dares Wayne to approach a girl and say, "In 1775, cancer of the scrotum was a common disease among chimney sweeps." Surprisingly, the lovely young lady is charmed by Wayne and asks his name. Mike knows there's one thing that a woman won't respond to - the truth - and writes it on a napkin. When Mike hands the napkin to Wayne, Wayne won't say it.

Rick meets Charlotte at the bar, where she apologizes again for everything. Mike screams when he catches sight of Leslie's date, prompting the albino to run away. Leslie runs off after him. Rick realizes Charlotte wants to get married, just not to him. Rick claims his grandmother wouldn't have liked Charlotte anyway. Back at Charlotte's apartment, Mike apologizes for shrieking at Leslie's date. Charlotte says she's upset and worried that the right guy will never propose.

Before the night ends, Wayne tells Charlotte what was written on the napkin: "My name is Wayne Rutherford, my father is a billionaire. Eighteen months ago, he cut me off, I've never held a job and I have no money. I sleep on my friend's couch and I have no idea what I'm going to do for the rest of my life." Slightly endeared by Wayne's honesty, Charlotte tells him that line could never work. Wayne promises Charlotte the right guy for her is out there somewhere, because she's Charlotte Payne.

Back at Soul Mates Specialists Inc., Andrew tells Charlotte that people normally don't give answers like that. Charlotte wants to know who her soul mate is, but Andrew tells her they have a lot more questions to go through before she'll find hers.
