AceShowbiz - A piano used by The Beatles at the famed Abbey Road Studios has been withdrawn from an auction. The coffee-stained instrument, which the Fab Four used to record several tracks, was slated to go under the hammer at Bonhams auctioneers in West Sussex, England and was expected to fetch $225,000.
But the sale was stopped at the weekend - with organizers refusing to reveal why. A statement posted on Bonhams' website reads, "This lot has been withdrawn." The Challen upright piano was played on Beatles tracks including "Paperback Writer", "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" and "Tomorrow Never Knows" and was a fixture at London's Abbey Road studios during the 1960s.
The other items sold at the auction included necklace owned by Jackie Onassis and a rare ape costume from the 1968 film "2001: A Space Odyssey".
