AceShowbiz - Advertisers have agreed to pull a controversial Brazilian beer commercial featuring Paris Hilton, following complaints about its sexist undertones. The socialite sparked controversy in February, when she appeared on TV and internet ads rubbing a can of Devassa beer on herself in an office building as passers by stare at her antics.
Despite being fully clothed throughout the ad, officials at Brazil's Women's Secretariat revealed authorities received several complaints about the "sensual nature" of the campaign. Meanwhile watchdog group, Conar, requested the ad be removed.
On Tuesday, March 2, a spokesperson for Devassa brewer Schincariol announced the commercial would be pulled temporarily, but defended the campaign. A statement from Schincariol reads, "The company believes that the advertisement starring the model Paris Hilton doesn't offend in any sense, any rule or orientation."
