The news was confirmed by the MOBO Awards organization through an Instagram announcement, stating that Sway Dasafo passed away at his home in Ghana. The cause of death has not been revealed.

Sway made a significant impact on the British hip-hop scene, notably becoming the first unsigned artist to win the Best Hip-Hop Act at the 2005 MOBO Awards, surpassing well-known acts like 50 Cent and The Game.
