AceShowbiz - David Allan Coe's final studio album, A Million Reasons, will be released digitally on October 16 by F3 Entertainment and Symphonic, offering fans one last collection of new music from the outlaw country icon.

The album, recorded in 2017 but never released, captures Coe's unmistakable voice and outlaw spirit. A newly recorded version of his signature song You Never Even Called Me By My Name premiered today via Taste Of Country and will be released on all streaming platforms on September 6, which would have been Coe's 87th birthday.

The 11-track collection opens with a special introduction from wrestling legend Ric Flair before launching into the new version of You Never Even Called Me By My Name, a song recently ranked at No. 52 on SiriusXM Prime Country's Top 100 Country Songs of All Time and No. 160 on Rolling Stone's 200 Greatest Country Songs of All Time.

Other highlights include the title track, a tribute to Johnny Cash on "Corner of Cash and Coe," and two songs co-written with Kid Rock: "Single Father" and "Only God Knows Why." The album also features a southern-rock rendition of Coe's own Take This Job and Shove It, the working-class anthem that Johnny Paycheck took to No. 1 in 1978.

Former Coe co-manager Ken Madson, who acquired the master recordings in 2022, said in a statement: "When I began working with David Allan Coe in 2017 to record this album, my goal was to capture his voice and musical legacy in the best way possible. The project ultimately took a different path than we anticipated, but I remained committed to seeing the recordings completed and made available to his fans."

Songwriter and former co-manager David Wade recalled the inspiration behind the title track: "This album's title track 'A Million Reasons' started being written the afternoon we took David Allan Coe to federal court in Cincinnati, where he was found guilty of owing the IRS a million dollars. This album contains songs that David Allan Coe has lived during his later years of life. He wanted that to be part of his outlaw legacy."

Madson added: "A few years ago, I was able to acquire the master recordings from Average Joes Entertainment. After David's passing earlier this year, finishing what we started and sharing what has now become his final completed studio album has felt more important than ever."

The album was originally produced by Noah Gordon and Lex Lipsitz under Average Joes Entertainment, spearheaded by Colt Ford. The project remained unreleased until Madson acquired the masters and completed it following Coe's death.
