AceShowbiz - The U.K. dramedy Alice and Steve dominated the awards at the ninth annual Canneseries festival, securing the coveted best series prize and multiple other honors. The show, produced by Clerkenwell Films and created by Sophie Goodhart, premiered at the festival and quickly became one of the standout titles of the event.

Alice and Steve impressed both critics and audiences, winning not only the Best Series award but also the High School Award. Its ensemble cast received a special jury mention, highlighting the show's wide-ranging appeal across different viewer demographics. The series stars Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement, whose performances contributed significantly to the series’ buzz on the Croisette.

The awards ceremony took place Tuesday evening at the Palais des Festivals after several days filled with screenings and industry events. Canneseries juries handed out accolades across multiple categories, including main competition, short-form, and documentary sections, showcasing a diverse selection of international winners.

In the performance category, Finnish actress Roosa Söderholm was recognized for her role in Guts, a joint Finland-Slovenia production. Spain’s I Always Sometimes earned the best screenplay award, credited to writers Marta Bassols, Marta Loza, and Almudena Monzú.

Belgium made a strong showing with two major wins: Boho took home best short form series, while the documentary series The Deal With Iran was awarded best docuseries. Sweden’s Summer of 1985 received the prize for best music, composed by Jonas Wikstrand.

The student jury honored the Austrian-German co-production Sheep. French productions dominated the audience-focused awards, with Empathie winning the Europe 1 Audience Award and Plaine Orientale securing the Air France Travelers’ Choice Award.
