AceShowbiz - Netflix has confirmed that its animated spin-off, Stranger Things: Tales From '85, will return for a second season. The announcement came shortly after the series’ debut on April 23, 2026, promising fans a quicker follow-up compared to the wait typically associated with the live-action Stranger Things series.
Showrunner Eric Robles expressed his excitement about the renewal, stating that working on Season 1 was a highly rewarding journey. He highlighted the meaningful connection fans have made with the characters, whether longtime followers or newcomers. Robles teased that Season 2 will revisit the winter of 1985 in Hawkins, Indiana, with the Hawkins Investigators Club confronting a new paranormal menace emerging from the town’s abandoned silver mines. He also mentioned a mysterious blue flower that appeared in the Upside Down at the end of Season 1, which will play a role in the upcoming episodes.
Stranger Things: Tales From '85 is set between Seasons 2 and 3 of the original live-action series. It follows the adventures of Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max as they face fresh monsters and uncover new supernatural mysteries during the winter of 1985. However, unlike the original series, none of the live-action cast return to provide voices for their animated counterparts.
The voice cast for the animated series includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Luca Diaz as Mike, Benjamin Plessala as Will, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Elisha "EJ" Williams as Lucas, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, and Odessa A’zion, known for "Marty Supreme," as Nikki, a new character introduced in the show. All these actors are expected to reprise their roles for Season 2.
Meanwhile, the main Stranger Things series concluded its five-season run in December 2025. The finale featured the defeat of the villain Vecna and left the fate of Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven ambiguous. At the time of the finale’s release, TVLine readers gave the episode an average grade of "B+."
The renewal news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Fans of the franchise are now eagerly awaiting the return of Stranger Things: Tales From '85 this fall, as the story continues to explore the eerie and mysterious world of Hawkins through a fresh animated lens.
