AceShowbiz - Kanye West’s planned return to Europe faces fresh obstacles as his scheduled concerts in Poland and Switzerland have been canceled following backlash over his previous antisemitic remarks.
In Switzerland, the FC Basel football club, which manages events at St. Jakob-Park, announced it would no longer proceed with a proposed June concert featuring Kanye West. A spokesperson for the club told Reuters, “We cannot, in accordance with our values, provide a platform for the artist in question within this context.”
Similarly, officials in Poland confirmed that Kanye West’s June 19 performance at the Superauto.pl Silesian Stadium in Chorzów has been called off. Adam Strzyzewski, the venue director, stated, “The concert by Ye (Kanye West), scheduled for 19 June 2026 at the Superauto.pl Silesian Stadium, will not take place due to formal and legal reasons.”
Poland’s culture minister, Marta Cienkowska, publicly opposed the event, emphasizing the country’s history. She wrote on social media, “In a country marked by the history of the Holocaust, we cannot pretend that this is just entertainment.”
These cancellations follow a recent postponement of a concert in Marseille, France, and a ban preventing Kanye West from entering the United Kingdom for a planned appearance at London’s Wireless Festival. The rapper has made multiple antisemitic comments in the past but has stated, “I am not a Nazi or an antisemite.”
The controversy surrounding Kanye West continues to impact his ability to perform across Europe, with venues and officials citing ethical and legal concerns in their decisions to cancel his shows.
