AceShowbiz - Ryan Gosling is gearing up to host Saturday Night Live once again, appearing in a new promotional video that humorously miscounts his hosting appearances.
In the promo titled Ryan Gosling Thinks He's Joining SNL's Five-Timers Club, the actor is seen wearing a robe embroidered with the number five as he strolls around Rockefeller Plaza, acting confidently as if he already belongs to the exclusive club of hosts who have appeared five times on the show.
Throughout the clip, Gosling lights a photo of cast member Mikey Day on fire, smokes indoors, and pops champagne atop a fake horse. However, Day quickly intervenes, reminding him that he has only hosted four times, not five.
"Dude, what the hell are you doing?" Day asks, to which Gosling replies, "Five-timers club, Michael." Day corrects him, saying, "This is your fourth time hosting," prompting Gosling to spit-take in surprise. The two then review his previous hosting dates during the past year.
Gosling acknowledges, "It's just four," adding, "I'm sure someone's made this mistake before." Day responds with a humorous, "Never once!" The full promo can be viewed online.
This upcoming Saturday will mark Gosling’s fourth official hosting gig on Saturday Night Live. His debut was on December 5, 2015, followed by a second hosting on September 30, 2017. More recently, he hosted on April 13, 2024, with an additional cameo appearance on April 6, 2024.
Currently, Gosling is on a press tour for his film Project Hail Mary, which is scheduled for release on March 20. The movie is adapted from Andy Weir’s bestselling science fiction novel and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
Although official critic reviews have not yet been published, early reactions from press screenings have been positive, suggesting anticipation for the film’s success.
Ryan Gosling’s mix-up about his number of hosting appearances adds a lighthearted moment to the excitement surrounding his return to Saturday Night Live, and fans are looking forward to seeing him on stage once again this weekend.
